Puku Breathing

This week at Kapa Haka we learnt that our breathing is really important when we are singing. We learnt how to do ‘Puku Breathing’. This means that we need to keep our air down in our puku not up in our shoulders. We let it out slowly and consistently. We practised this to be better singers.

For the first time ever, we started to learn … HAKA! The boys moved to the front and they learnt how to stand. We can’t wait to continue this learning next week.

What's Kapa Haka like?

Libby says, "I’m enjoying learning new songs each week and secretly doing the Haka."

Jacob says, "I like learning a second language."

Will says, "it is exciting learning new songs and actions."

Gabby says, "Matua Steve is really great because he teaches us slowly, not all at once."

Max says, "I like learning about the Maori culture."
