Cheesy grins and burning legs

Today in Kapa Haka Miss Washington shared her mihi with us.  She had really good pronunciation.

We are enjoying going over all the songs we have learnt in previous lessons and enjoyed our first performance in front of an audience, as the girls performed for the boys and then the boys for the girls.  We had fun learning that raising our eyebrows is a way to say hello and that we need to have cheesy grins when performing.

For Haka practice the boys were in front of the girls.  The boys worked on their stance and felt their legs burn.  "Don't hold back!"  said Matua Steve.

Matua Steve also showed us some videos of people performing Kapa Haka.  We hope that we will be that good one day!

What do you like about Kapa Haka?

Tyler:  "I like the haka"

Jorja:  "I like how we did the performance for the boys"

Morgan:  "The haka burns our legs!"

Ruby:  "I like doing it because we learn another language"
